About Matanuska Tours

Hello Future Glacier Explorer! Kel Thompson here - writing this. I wanted to welcome you to my little corner of the web world here in Alaska and explain a little about this website.

Firstly, I have been going to the Matanuska Glacier for a couple years. Most bookings for these kinds of excursions happen through sites like - Trip Advisor or Viator -  and they bring in about 1 Billion US Dollars a Quarter to Trip Advisor! And you might be wondering what this has to do with MatanuskaTours.com! Those companies have earned the trust of travelers, and rightfully so, you often don't have to pay right away and can cancel easily; however, what most travelers don't realize is, they take a HUGE commission from the total and from whomever you are booking. Often 30% - 40% or yes even 50%. For example if you book this same tour on Viator or Trip Advisor, they will keep up to 50% of every dollar you pay.

This website is my anecdote to that problem! My main website is GreatDayAK.com; however, most of business comes from Viator and Trip Advisor, but I am trying to change that by setting up Search Engine Friendly micro experience websites like for the Matanuska Glacier.

I've been to the Glacier approaching 100 times and know the drive very well. I have all 5 star reviews on Trip Advisor and Viator (which you can read by clicking here) I have only recently started asking for reviews on Google to start to try to break free from the booking platforms like Viator, and Trip Advisor.

Although, I do currently ask that you pay for your excursion when you book, I do offer a full refund should your travel plans change!

When you book this tour, the price includes up to 8 hours of transportation with stops for food, restrooms, coffee and a photo stop. I will pickup your group between 9:30 and 10a from your hotel or AirBnB. If it is just one group it will be closer to 10a, however please be ready and in the lobby by 9:45a as it is a pretty long and relaxed day, however with the stops at the grocery store and for photos we do try to keep a pretty tight schedule to make the 1p tour at the glacier.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me direct, I do have a Florida number which it seems like half of the United States knows it is a Palm Beach area code, however I live in Anchorage, Alaska since 2022! You can call, email or text, if I am out driving on a tour, then I might have to call you back but I do personally respond to all emails and inquiries!
